Absence Requests

Please read the following information BEFORE submitting your absence request.

Driving a school bus in a very important responsibility and your commitment is greatly appreciated.
We recognize that occasionally circumstances arise that prevent drivers from driving their route.
It is important to give as much notice as possible to allow time to arrange an alternate driver and notify EIPS Transportation.
Unless other arrangements are made, all absences unpaid. A $50 bonus is paid for each month of absence free driving. It is your best interests to meet your driver obligations.
Please remember to keep your route binder up to date and on the bus to ensure that an alternate driver is able to properly cover your route.
Remember to leave key in the appropriate location.

UNPLANNED ABSENCE
(Illness, Family Emergency)
Occasionally, it is not feasible to submit an absence request in a timely manner.
Unexpected circumstances like illness (either you or a family member) may limit your ability to safely drive your route.
In these situations, please notify Trevor at ‭(780) 722-6136‬.
If during the night or very early morning you realize your inability to drive your route, please text Trevor prior to 6:00AM and follow up with a telephone call after 6:00AM if you have not received a response.

PLANNED ABSENCE
(Medical Appointment,  Short Term/Long Term Absence, Bereavement, Jury Duty, Maternity/Paternity Leave, or Other)
If you require someone to drive your route because of a planned absence, please submit an Absence Request on the form below.
Please give as much notice as possible for any planned absence.
Whenever possible, please schedule medical appointments during the day when you are not driving.
We prefer that only one driver be absent on any given day.

Nonessential absences or time off will be granted only when a spare driver is available to drive your route.
Although every effort is made to accommodate absence requests, our resource of spare drivers is limited, and depending on the time and circumstances we may not be able to approve your request.
Be sure to receive approval of your requested absence BEFORE booking flights, accommodations, etc.
